Smart Horizons Announces Retirement of School Training Solutions Director
Mike Kelley’s success in developing and promoting School Training Solutions is indicative of a life filled with accomplishments.
Smart Horizons, a division of Advanced Systems Technology, announced today the retirement of Director of School Training Solutions, Mike Kelley. Mr. Kelley has been with Advanced Systems Technology (AST) for 15 years. His extensive experience in law enforcement and transportation enabled him to contribute to a number of AST’s training products and initiatives, including High Impact Training Solutions (HITS) and, most recently, School Training Solutions (STS).

The experience he gained from his days with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and his service in the U.S. Army Reserves translated perfectly into providing quality products and services to the transportation world. We wish him well and thank him for his dedication,” said Doug Peterson, Director of Smart Horizons. Commenting on his retirement, Mr. Kelly said, “I’ve enjoyed my 15 years with the company, but it’s the right time for me to begin and to enjoy my retirement.”
Mr. Kelley joined Advanced Systems Technology as a courseware developer. Over the years, he served as production manager and Director of Law Enforcement & Security online training. In 2005, he became the first Director of School Training Solutions (STS). Before beginning his career with AST, Mr. Kelly retired from a 25 year career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and 27 years in the Guard & Reserves. His years of experience as an instructor with the highway patrol, the military, and as an adult computer instructor teaching adults to use computers and software programs made Mr. Kelly an invaluable resource within the company over the years.
