October 14th – 18th is National School Lunch Week and is intended to promote a healthy diet and lifestyle for children. The School Nutrition Association provides excellent resources to educate and engage students. This week is also a great opportunity to make sure your food service employees have the resources to be at their best.
Consider online training for your food service staff. Courses include safe food handling guidelines from receipt of food to preparation and service, portion control and nutrition, ways to eliminate foodborne illness using HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and the responsibilities of professionals regarding personal hygiene and pest control.
