Happy West Virginia Day!

June 20th is West Virginia Day. In celebration of this state holiday, here are some important facts:

WHO:	President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed its admission.
WHAT:	West Virginia was admitted to the Union and became a member of the United States.
WHERE:	Virginia/West Virginia
WHEN:	June 20, 1863
WHY:	During the American Civil War, Virginia was divided over the decision to join the Confederate States.
HOW:	As a result of this division, several counties separated from Virginia and West Virginia was born.
