Absorbing Local Color in Casper, WY

Posted in Blog on April 3rd, 2013.

One of the benefits of traveling is being able to sample pieces are local culture and cuisine. This year’s WPTA Conference and Trade Show took me to Casper, WY, and while it is a very short trip for me I have been able to squeeze in a couple local hangouts. I decided on Poor Boys Steakhouse for dinner and the Wonder Bar for a local brew.

Poor Boys Steakhouse is definitely unique. It was a lot of food. A relish boat, salad, bread, steak, and loaded baked potato. It was an extremely satisfying meal after a long day of travel and a trade show.

After the meal, I was craving a local brew. Wonder Bar did the trick. It was a nice atmosphere with very friendly folks. I settled on an Red Ale and it was a nice end to the evening. The saying on their shirt was, “It’s more fun to eat at a bar than drink at a restaurant.” Sadly they would not sell me one.

I wish I had the time to squeeze in a run downtown, but it wasn’t in the stars this trip.
